Where I buy vintage furniture in Berlin: My personal tips
I love vintage.
I always, always bring vintage furniture into my client projects. I think the colours of vintage furniture look unique; you can find quirky pieces that you could never buy new, and they just bring way more depth than any new piece of furniture.
Depending on the client’s budget, I will propose either an option from a curated shop, where they select and refurbish pieces, or from Kleinanzeigen, where, let’s be honest, you can find proper gems, but you’ve got to have the time! This is actually a big part of what I do for my clients, I do the endless scrolling so they don’t have to.
For those ready to hunt, here is my personal selection of the best places for vintage shopping in Berlin, from high-end curated spots to the dusty boxes of the flea market.
For the curated look (budget +++)
If you want perfect condition and expert restoration.
Faible Furnishings Located in Neukölln, this spot has a thoroughly curated selection of mid-century furniture. The owner is a lovely, passionate guy who really knows his stuff.
Furniture Garden A similar vibe to Faible, very curated and managed by lovely people. They specialize in Scandinavian designers, and the best part is that everything is refurbished right in their own atelier.
Another June If you want something that feels like an art piece, go here. It’s a personal curation of vintage and contemporary design objects. You are guaranteed to find something unique.
The "hidden gem" hunters (budget ++)
If you want a mix of convenience and the thrill of the hunt.
Fleamarket Arkonaplatz Not far from its famous Mauerpark counterpart, but much better for interiors. You will find lamps, tables, chairs, and a lot more furniture than at any other flea market. Some pieces can be pricey, but deals happen, the last time I went with friends, they scored a travertine table for 60 EUR. Just saying!
For the diggers (budget +)
If you are willing to wake up early and dig through boxes.
Fleamarket Tiergarten If you follow me on Instagram, you know this is my favorite flea market of all. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but the energy is special. You need to really dig into boxes here. I find there are always amazing lamps and crystal glasses (which are getting rare nowadays). You never know what will come your way, I even found my daughter’s rocking horse here.
Antik und Trödelhalle Spandau You need time to get through the sheer volume of stuff here, but if you have the patience, you can find significantly cheaper things than in the city center.
My online favorites
For when you want to browse from the sofa.
Wilma Vintage Kindermöbel Not only is Nina (the owner) adorable, but her selection of kids' furniture is spot on. She refurbishes them, adds practical shelving, and paints them in beautiful colours from Farrow & Ball or Kolorat.
Wollen Möbel Kaufen Pro tip: you can see a lot of their stock on Kleinanzeigen. They have a huge warehouse and the prices are okay, plus, they offer delivery which is a lifesaver for heavy items.
Hauptstadt Möblerei Very similar to the one above, with a slightly more curated selection. I saw beautiful burl wood night tables there a while ago (!!).
